hi FT
i attended the Absolute Bazaar with my mom on Sunday, the second day.
anyway, i entered the hall with my mom, and saw an item that was sold at the stall, the stall was on my right as we entered the hall. that item really caught my eye and i was really excited about it
the sales girl was really helpful. i believe she's not the owner of the shop. coz she pointed to another girl, referring to her as the owner. she's really nice. anyway, after a walk around the hall, we came back to the same shop and decided to get that item . this time, the owner of the stall served us.
my mom was asking about some stuff regarding other items and the owner of the stall referred to her as "aunty".
well, it may be no big deal for some of u, but i really think that blogshop owners should be careful of the words they say. in order to promote and sell our items, we first have to impress the buyer by the words we say. and especially for ladies, we have to be extra watchful!
i understand that some call "aunty" out of respect, but i think that as sellers, when u go out and sell your items, u shouldn't address ppl like that. rather, u should use titles like "miss", "mister", "sir".
it's far more polite and the person who's listening to it feels happier. no one wants to admit they're old right.
imagine if u see a younger person walking with a older lady. not OLD old lady, but older. they can just be sisters! but just ages apart. or they can be cousins. what makes u think that they're of mother-daughter relationship?
anyway, conclusion is, for the next bazaar, i sure wish that sellers are aware of this. like i said, it may not seem like a big deal to some of u, but as sellers, i think sellers should take care of how the customers feel.
thank u. no offense meant to the blogshop. can't remember the name.

I do not see any problem at all calling an older lady as "auntie" as a seller in bazaar ;)!
I feel "auntie" is kinda respectful, like u calling ur relative :)!
no big deal i hafto say!
hi! i agree that referring an older lady as "auntie" is respectful. but i agree that calling miss/sir sounds more professional. i take up alot of part time promoter jobs and we are never allowed to call customers "aunty" "uncle". we all refer to them as "miss" "sir". some may agree that it's different comparing part time promoter jobs & bazaar sales. but i think it's all the same. after all, they share the same purpose, which is to sell the promoted goods/items!
just my two cents =) no offense meant to de-cherry!
hmm offline bazaar sales, going ms, mr and sir... totally ruins the whole laidback fun shopping event idea right?
i guess it's similar to the one where in the market, the guy who sells vegetables goes 'leng lui, what you want to buy today?' and say that to every woman who walks past him, disregarding their age or really, their looks.
no biggie to me to refer anyone as aunty/uncle. age is just a number. but i usually just greet them w/o the title at the back... to avoid this kinda misunderstanding...
