Reader 183
Dear Fashion Truth,
I am writing in reference to Reader 182.
I think that what she had complained about is pretty unreasonable. As a buyer and seller myself, i know how it feels like when items dont arrive exactly at when i want them to arrive. But you must remember that not all of us are doing this as a full-time job. Some of us are students, and some are working people too. An online business is just a separate venue for extra income. Or for me, i do it as a hobby being an avid shopaholic myself.
Everyone has their own schedule, studying or working. Not all of us live close to a post office but we still make the effort to post your items (sometimes a whole bundle at a time), ensure that everything is addressed properly and so on. And if you are familiar with post offices, they are jam packed with people from morning to afternoon. That is because not everyone uses the post office just to post out stuff, but to pay bills and claim petrol compensation and so on. Sometimes us sellers have to wait in line for over an hour just to post items. Especially when we have our own schedules too, we sometimes cant afford to wait that long.
So think about the sellers too and not just yourself. Just because you cant receive an item according to your schedule doesnt mean its the end of the world. No harm in going down to the post office to collect the item yourself.
Or at least what you could have done was to tell the seller to post the item out the following week instead, like on Monday. The reason why she would have posted so late could be because you banked in during the near end of the weekdays, so in future, just bank in as early as possible.
I have bought alot online too, and most of my packages dont come on time, but as long as they arrive within the week, im fine with it. Sometimes its annoying for me to go to the post office to collect my items as it is delivered while im not around, but i just drive through the jams and go about collecting the item.
Quoted from Reader182, most blogshops i know dont charge you for delivery service. If a buyer asks for pos ekspres, the charge is RM4, which is the full price itself. So the buyer is just paying the post office to deliver the item to you.
Perhaps you paid more, but i know that a majority of blogshops dont earn from 'delivery service', the post offices do.
Well, no offense to Reader182, but im just writing in to remind you (and whoever that complains about posting times) that sellers too have their own life and their time is precious too.
A little tolerance wont hurt, after all, that's what shopping online is about. There are no contracts binding us to do everything according to the rules, but we still do it out of respect to you buyers and out of thanks for your support. Sometimes our timing comes a little short of excellence, but just as long as the item does get delivered to you, what more is there to complain about.

"There is a reason why we pay for delivery service ok!"

i so agree with u!
yes, i am a seller but i am a student and i've had countless request from buyers asking me to post it to their office address and i comply. but the thing is exactly like u said, they bank in on thursday or near the weekend and expect it to arrive when they are in office.
some buyers are understanding, when they actually say that its ok to post it next week (monday) to ensure it arrives on a weekday but some are really annoying which puts pressure on sellers.
like a time when a buyer made the payment on thursday morning and asked me many times on that same day whether or not i've posted the item and after apologizing, i said no becoz i had no time (my class is from 9 to 5 on thursday with only 1 hour break in between) she somewhat "pressured" me by saying that she wanted it to arrive before the weekend so of course i had to go post it after class but it is after pick up hours and when it arrives on a saturday, she blamed me.
i mean, u gave me the impression that u wanted it urgently and when i went out of my way to post it to u, u blame me? she could have just told me to post it on monday as she said "what is the point of sending it if i'm not there?".
sorry to rant so much but i'm just giving a seller's point of view.
i'm a buyer too so i know it is a hassle to go to the post office but please understand that sellers are sometimes busy too.
and to every other thing that u said, i agree 100%!
i have no complaint on the delivery as you know, Malaysian Delivery Pos is always not so in time. and again, its not something that the seller can control. She can manage the delivery, but its doesnt mean that the thing will arrivea ccording to the schedule.
SO, this is one of the contigency of buying stuff online. if you had problem to deal with delivery, better you shop with the real boutiques.
My worst case is my delivery reach me 3 weeks late. Which is worst: Received it late and had to pick it up at the pos office OR lose your parcel?
think bout it.
I personally don't think this is an issue.
As a seller, I sincerely think that when you decided to open a blogshop, to deliver your items regularly is already your job.
At least do make it a rule on your shop that you only ship out items on Mon & Tue every week, those who are not willing to wait, wont bother to buy from you anyway, unless under some special occasion the buyers discussed with you to send them the items on other day.
If you are not able to send out on the agreed day, do at least send an SMS or email to your customer to inform and apologised. Stay quiet for a week, this is so no cool.
As a buyer, i definitely hate to get my items late, however, once the items being sent and tracking provided to you, it's not the seller fault anymore as they play no role to deliver. But I believe most of the sellers are kind enough to help to at least call the POS OFFICE/double check the information.
