Seller 55
dear FT, i am a seller and i would like to know where i stand in this case. a buyer bought something from me and paid me on saturday which means i can only go to the post office next week. but on monday i have class 9am to 730pm and was only told that tuesday until friday i will have to conduct site survey everyday, 9am to 5pm. it was so hectic, packed and quite hard to get internet access, let alone go to the post office. so when i only managed to tell the buyer i cant send it she was quite upset which i understand and of course i apologized. the next week on monday, something terrible happened which involved multiple deaths. to make things worse, i was supposed to submit my final thesis and presentation on wednesday so i know that there is no way i can send out the item to her. so monday night, i emailed her, telling her i wanted to refund her back and i apologized as i am also a buyer so i know how she feels. tuesday she replied, saying she was disappointed etc which i read tuesday night. i tried transferring money but it stated there General Transaction Error for 3 times. (it was around 1am). so i decided to stop trying. and only today i managed to check my email again and she demanded her money. i dont mind that, but what really hurt me was the fact that she said "plz reply back about d refund progress and not ur problems to me." i didnt specifically told her what happened. i just said that i cant runaway from the problem and that if it happened to her, she would feel like its the end of the world. (i thought she would understand that it means i'm going thru a hard time/major problem) which means i cant do things (such as, online) as usual and as fast as before. so i'd like to know, am i wrong? i know i delayed the postage too long and yes a buyer she has the right to be angry but i just hope she'll be a bit understanding. i'm only a small time seller, i only sell preloved items (i dont go to suppliers looking for clothes to sell) so at most times, my studies (like the site survey i had to do, or else i'll fail) and other things comes first. i did tell the buyer, not be rude as i was really hurt by the way she replied. its not like i did this on purpose. i just hope she'll understand. can i konw, am i wrong in this case? i will apologize again if i am as i believe in admitting my mistakes eventho i've apologized before. |

I dont think you are wrong, at least you got apologize, explain to her and even offer her a refund. But some buyers' attitude mmg like that, they just wana know about their purchase and they wont care about your difficulties.
maybe next time you need to estimate well the postage date so your buyer wont get disappointed again and again after what you promise her. Just my opinion. But I think at least you are willing to apologize and even a refund, which is a good service in my opinion lah.
ermm..mebe u really shud mention that you will probably be busy from wad date to wad date so she cant blame u when u cant deliver d goods.
but then, as a buyer, i'll b anxious s well. So many bad case of seller, n u cant blame her oso.
My advise, maybe nex time u can ask a favor from a trusted friend 2 deliver d goods?
i think u dont have to apologize again.
like feon said, "mebe u really shud mention that you will probably be busy from wad date to wad date so she cant blame u when u cant deliver d goods"
i see that u stated u didnt know about the site survey thing and that internet connection is only available later on so there is no way to tell the buyer, so i guess its not ur fault there.
and i noticed u said "multiple deaths" so i'm guessing lots of people died? like an accident?
my condolences to u.
i just hope the buyer will be understanding as i'm sure all these things happen suddenly and u cant avoid it.
whatever happened... my condolences to you, babe.
you apologized and took the effort to explain which is one good thing and kudos to you. but you have to think from her point of view too. first, the delivery was delayed for a week (which is quite long), only to find out that she can't get the item. so i can somewhat understand her frustration. but it doesn't justify her rudeness though. some ppl just aren't cut out to be understanding and a good listener.
i do agree with feon that you could ask a trusted friend to help you deliver the item on your behalf. i'm pretty sure you have 2-3 friends whom you can trust.
and maybe next time you should ask your customers for their HP no. just in case internet breaks down (and you know they often do when you need it the most). that way, you'll still be able to contact them :)
if doing online business,
i found out many owner of a boutique had an extra 'hand'-not only photographer, a partner, or a model, etc..but also an extra delivery man/woman, which can help u to deliver d goods when u're bz. mebe u ought to find sumone who can help during ur emergency hours? some owners could use their sister, roommates, boyfriends, etc :).
jus a suggestion. we can find a solution here so everyone can learn from the mistake :).
"i'm only a small time seller, i only sell preloved items (i dont go to suppliers looking for clothes to sell) so at most times, my studies (like the site survey i had to do, or else i'll fail) and other things comes first"
clearly no other helpers rite? as she mentioned, selling only preloved items. n not evry1 has a bf, sister or anything. just my opinion. cause i study far from home, with no1 to help me. n most of my fren x know i have an online shop so i think i can relate what seller is going thru.
i once study far far from home but i hav at least a roommate who can help me do errand when emergency. common, dont tell me a student dont hav someone close or a friend as a shoulder to cry on? btw, not necessary have to tell everyone wad you do, afterall, u wrap the items in an envelope and ask her a favor to send. dats it. no harms n x have to tell d friend u're a seller tho. ...
jus my opinion.
p/s: i study very far from home dat need me travel 2x using flight to transit. and yet, i still have someone close as a friend who can help me during emergency. :)
find a solution, n im not blaming others.
if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.
